Kyoto Day 6: Nishiki Market + Curry & Tempura Koisus + Ninenzaka/Sannenzaka + calligraphy. Kyoto. Japan. 4.3.2025.

After a day of mostly not eating, I was thankful to be able to eat again after many more steps of course. First, a morning stroll through Nishiki Market, where I like to stock up on Japanese spices.

I went to Curry & Tempura Koisus for lunch. Rosalva, Nirav and I did try to come here for dinner the night before. However, the line was insane. Go for lunch of early dinner to miss the line—this meal was worth the hype. You can order the vegetarian version. Since I did not have a curry meal during this trip yet, I was excited to finally try this. The use of over 20 spices and 5 pickles in the 2 curries were fragrant and balanced; mixed with the freshly made tempura garnished with matcha salt made this a perfect combination that is more unusual from your typical curry rice plate in Japan.

Then back up the hill to Ninenzaka/Sannenzaka to burn off more calories and see what all I may buy.

I bought some postcards from this artist.

Then as I walked across the bridge back toward my suite I stumbled upon a calligrapher and that was when I had the most genius idea for the best gift to gay husband #1 Derrick Carter.  I was very pleased with myself.

Then it was more crane and kimonos o'clock before checking into my zen oasis at Maana Homes.
