For lunch, I opted for very traditional Kyoto sushi. I randomly wandered into Izuju. You can also get bento boxes of sushi to go if you do not have time for a sit down. However, I was enamored with its decor. It happens to be one of the oldest sushi restaurants in Kyoto. I have to warn you, traditional Kyoto sushi is not for everyone, as the taste is rather specific and it uses cured fish. So if you are into frilly Western hand rolls, specialty rolls, and fresh fish typically, this is definitely not the type of sushi for you.
