Arashiyama is incredibly beautiful. So much that Kyoto may be the most beautiful place I have ever been to. It did help that I was there at the height of the cherry blossoms. Kyoto is also one of the best places to buy authentic Japanese goods. I would suggest you get some souvenir shopping done here.
