Today I tested and invented about 24 recipes for a liquor client. We had 4 tasters giving us feedback. At first I wasn't sure how this would go, but since I am a baker and am good with flavors and precision in general, it was very natural actually. More on this after the launch!

Ginger & the Ghost. Astronauts Etc. Poolside. The Independent. San Francisco. California. 3.27.2013.

Ginger & the Ghost. Part two. It's no secret that I love Poolside. I have been listening to them repeatedly since the discovery last winter. When I first saw that they were coming to The Independent, I really wanted to go, but no one I know can go out on a Wednesday night. So I never got tickets. It turns that out when I met Ginger & the Ghost yesterday, they were opening for Poolside today, so of course I had to go see my new friends and one of my favorite groups! It was as lovely as ever seeing Missy and Daniel take the stage. I ended up talking to Jeff (Poolside) afterwards about his first DJ stint here in San Francisco back in the day. He said that no one else there would know that fact. Although, I am seeing a pattern of The Independent and the funny business that follows. Remember this?

Ginger & the Ghost. Haus of Hispstamatic. San Francisco. California. 3.26.2013.

My friend David invited me to go see Ginger & the Ghost with him at the Haus of Hipstamatic. I love surprises so I never like to check out bands or movie trailers ahead of time. That way, you are always surprised. I have to say this was a very good surprise indeed. When Missy sang, it reminded me of the first time I heard Florence sing at sound check at the Greek. Her big voice, her presence, the rawness. This was their 15th show ever. Keep an eye out for them.

The day after you drink 2 pots of caffeinated tea at 5PM and ended up staying up all night reading until the sun came up and then sleeping for 2 hours before you went about your day. It also involves you getting shafted by Umami Burger (power outtage) and 15 Romolo (closed during lunch) back to back then ending up at Naked Lunch and getting their fried chicken sandwich.

Today Caroline and I walked all over Bernal Heights and ended at Liberty Cafe. Look at her beautiful beignets. I ended up having one of them. I ordered the chicken pot pie again, as it's delicious and it was rather cold.
