Soulstice's first live performance in 5-10 years (pending which member you talk to). This was for Gunnar's birthday. Happy birthday Gunnar! Then we headed over to Jesse's photo studio to watch The X Factor, as Chris Rene was closing the show. You know it's good when Simon Cowell says he's a star. Congratulations Chris, and thanks for sharing this special moment with all of us.

Pork & Pinot. Scribe Winery. Sonoma. California. 9.11.2011.
Another amazing event at Scribe Winery. Thanks for taking me Maryann! Now we top it off with my fancy peach cobbler and Jane Eyre.

Chez Panisse 40. Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco. California. 8.27.2011. Guest.
So by some miracle I ended up helping my friend Todd produce this piece for the New York Times for the Chez Panisse 40. We went to 13 dinners at people's homes in the Bay Area and then at both upstairs and downstairs at Chez Panisse for this special event benefiting the Edible School Yard Project. Big thanks to Todd, David and Eric for making this happen!

Niloufer Ichaporia King feeding me wagyu beef and pork.
I made a new friend!
David Prior, Todd Selby, and I in front of the chef's table at Chez Panisse, with Russ behind me.
Me asking Alice Waters if I can go ask Tom Waits "to cover that song that goes like this: dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun (a la Take on Me by a-Ha)". It turned out that the joke was on me because Tom Waits wasn't there. I also had no idea Todd took this picture. I was on the phone with Eric when I opened this image up and there was a lot of laughing involved.
